The history of Ovar’s Carnaval goes back to the year 1887, when the event was first mentioned in the municipality’s periodicals.

From the balls, to the dirty carnival, to the appearance of samba in the mythical parade, Ovar’s Carnaval grew and became one of the most outstanding festivities of the territory and the country.

The first festivities of this event begin in January, and during the week of carnival – yes, a whole week! – you can live the true revelry, that moves the whole community.
